5 Must Have Items in your Fridge for Belly Fat Loss

What’s in Your Fridge? Part I

5 must have items for your belly fat loss mission

From my experience over the years as a personal trainer and lifestyle coach, I’ve found that often times we needn’t look any further than the refrigerator for the culprit of body fat. I’ve opened many fridges in my day and to no surprise there are things like mayonnaise, juice, prepackaged hummus and salsa…you name it. The usual excuse I get is, “but it’s low fat” or “it says it’s sugar free”.

Well, the problem with these items is that they have many more additives than your body needs. Have you ever looked at the side of a container of hummus or salsa? They are loaded with unpronounceable words and things that don’t seem fit for a simple mixture of vegetables and herbs. So the first step to losing that belly fat is a quick makeover of your fridge and we’ll start with these five items.

  1. 1. Homemade Iced Green Tea – Green tea is a thermogenic food, meaning that it you will burn more calories after consuming it. Many weight loss and fat loss supplements contain Green Tea Extract for this reason. Not only does it provide this thermogenic effect but it also provides the body with antioxidants. Add some lemon to a nice cold pitcher of green tea for a refreshing afternoon drink. Or add green tea, blueberries, yogurt and some banana for a delicious smoothie. Try adding protein powder for an awesome post workout drink.
  2. Avocado – I know what you’re going to say. “But I’ve heard that avocado has a high amount of fat”. The answer is, yes avocado does have fat, but it’s monounsaturated fat which studies show help fight belly fat. The Mediterranean diet high in monounsaturated fats has been shown to result in the smallest waistlines compared to diets higher in carbohydrates and saturated fats. So add 1 to 2 avocados per week to slim that waistline. Add avocado to salads or make guacamole. It’s tasty and because of its fat content will keep you satisfied for a longer period of time.
  3. Jalepeno or Chili Peppers – Peppers are also known as a thermogenic food and adding peppers has been known to raise body temperature and increase metabolism. Add peppers to your dishes to spice them up and give them some extra fat burning potential. They are low calorie, so they don’t add additional calories to your overall intake. Add it to your guacamole for a one two belly fat punch that will taste great and add some fun to your foods.
  4. Fish – Salmon and Tuna aren’t the only fish that are good for you. There are other fish high in the popular Omega 3 Fatty acid known to contribute to boosting immune function, speeding up metabolism and helping the heart. Omega-3 Fatty Acids are found in a variety of fish so consume some fish 3 to 4 times a week to help reduce your waistline and lose that stubborn abdominal fat.
  5. Quinoa – Pronounced (Keen – wah) this awesome little seed can replace the grains in your diet. Kick the rice to the curb and let this little filler do more than just fill your stomach and leave you feeling bloated. Quinoa has the great effect of giving you a full feeling without leaving you feeling sluggish and bloated like rice. It packs much more nutrients than rice and not only that; it packs the essential amino acids that the body needs to maintain muscle and burn body fat. It contains fiber and loads of nutrients like calcium, magnesium, iron and zinc. This particular food offers vegetarians an excellent source of essential amino acids and high quality protein while adding to the existing protein sources for non-vegetarians.

So there you have it; five things you should have in your refrigerator to burn more body fat, lose weight and live healthy.

The topic sounds good but it seems not easy to have those things in the fridge except No.1 Green Tea and 4 Fish. Could you recommend other options for local Thais?
BTW, hot green tea and iced green tea will give us the same nutrition, right?

All 5 Items can be found locally in Thailand. You can find Avocados at any Tops or Villa market. Chilli Peppers are abundant in Thailand and Quinoa you can find at Villa. No one said that living healthy would be “easy”. It’s not easy, but it’s a choice we make for ourselves.

Hot or Cold, green tea is beneficial either way. Hot before meals can help improve digestion and metabolism, but this is mainly due to body temperature increase. Any warm tea or water prior to eating is good for digestion and metabolism
