Female Fitness Model Ava Cowan Discusses Her Training

It’s important to have inspiration for anything that you do. Ava Cowan is a fitness model and fitness champion. Understandably, not everyone wants to be a fitness model. However, it’s important to get key tips from people like this in order to better understand how to reach your goals. Women in particular think that heavy weight training is going to make them big or bulky. The truth of the matter is that a woman can not naturally get big and bulky. Notice the word “naturally”. This means that women who are big and bulky are taking substances to get them to that level.

Another thing that most women don’t understand is that the physique of fitness models during competition is at the pinnacle of human fitness. Their body fat is the lowest it could ever possibly be and that it’s nearly impossible to maintain a body fat that low. During the off season these same women fill in the normal layers of body fat and that bit of normal fat lays on the muscle built underneath in such a way to create curves in all the right places. Women want curves and shape but often times don’t understand that it’s the muscle development that provides curvature and contours to your body.

As a personal trainer getting this message across to clients is important because heavy lifting is absolutely necessary for maximum calorie expenditure and muscle development. Also, in order to sculpt and shape the body, “traditional movements”  should also be incorporated into your training.  Single joint exercises are just as important to muscular development as multijoint movements.
